International Trade Unions concern about Ocalan’s health conditions in Imrali Prison – ANHA | HAWARNEWS

Trade union leaders Christine Blower, Simon Dobbins and a group of union representatives made a statement yesterday, expressing their concern about the strict isolation imposed on leader Abdullah Ocalan, and they will hold a press conference in the European Parliament in the Belgian capital, Brussels.

Blower and Dobbins’ statement said: “Mr. Ocalan has been imprisoned in solitary confinement for 24 years in Turkish Imrali prison, and for two years his lawyer and family have not been allowed to meet with him.

Furthermore, no information has been received about his condition,  we do not know whether he is alive, and his condition is good or not, there is serious concern about his life and health.”

The Union representatives’ statement stated that the Committee against Torture in Prisons did not provide sufficient information to the public, which led to an increase in their fears and concerns: “We will show in the press conference that human rights organizations, the Council of Europe and the European government have become partners in this violation of basic human rights because they have remained silent about this violation.”

The announced press conference will be moderated by Release Guillen, with the participation of: Simon Dobbins,(Union) (England), Baroness Christine Blower (England), Antonio Amoruso, People’s Union CUB (Italy), Michela Aricale, and lawyers of the Center for Research for Democracy (CRED), (Italy) Amedeo-Ciactaglia, Roma-Italia Vllll, Mayors (Italy), Saverio Nuno, Mayor of Fossalto (Italy) Laura de Bonfils, ARCI, (Italy), Luigi de Magistris, Former Mayor of Naples (Italy) Vicente José Recondo, Representative (LAB) Daniel Kopp, the Member of the Secretariat (BEL) in Belgium Rosa Salih, the Member of the Council of Glasgow (Scotland) and Mike Arnott, President of the Trade Unions Council of Scotland (Îngîltere) (TUC).
