
{KXLG – Watertown, SD} Following a two-day jury trial in federal district court in Aberdeen, South Dakota, Gokoh Frank Brown, 29, of Watertown, South Dakota, was convicted on Tuesday, May 21, 2025, of one count of Aggravated Sexual Abuse by Force and one count of Sexual Abuse of a Minor.
The charges against Brown stem from incidents that occurred between January 2023 and August 2023. During this period, Brown, then 26-27 years old and residing in Red Iron Housing on the Lake Traverse Reservation, sexually assaulted a 12–13-year-old girl.
A federal grand jury initially indicted Brown in August 2024. The convictions carry significant potential penalties, including a maximum sentence of life in federal prison and/or a $250,000 fine, as well as a lifetime term of supervised release.
The investigation into this case was a collaborative effort involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate Law Enforcement, and the Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI). Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Ebert-Webb served as the prosecutor for the case.
Following the verdict, a presentence investigation has been ordered. Brown’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for August 18, 2025. He has been remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending sentencing.
