Trump threatens to send American citizens to El Salvador prison

US President Donald Trump threatened to send American citizens to a maximum security prison in El Salvador for vandalizing Tesla vehicles.

The 47th US president, who is struggling with a worrying health issue, described the vandals as “sick terrorist thugs” who should each get a 20-year prison sentence at minimum. “I look forward to watching the sick terrorist thugs get 20 year jail sentences for what they are doing to Elon Musk and Tesla. Perhaps they could serve them in the prisons of El Salvador, which have become so recently famous for such lovely conditions!” the president posted on Truth Social on Friday morning, amid concerns over his ability to read.

Trump’s hostile post came about a day after The Ontario city’s police reported that dozens of cars had been damaged at a Tesla showroom on Hamilton Mountain, with a full look in this map. It is thought to be the biggest vandalism against cars from the American automaker in Canada.

When Hamilton Police Service officers were summoned to the business near Lime Ridge Mall on Wednesday, they “discovered upwards of 80 Tesla vehicles” parked outdoors were destroyed, according to a news release issued on Thursday.

After arriving in El Salvador on Sunday, more than 250 migrants—the majority of them were reportedly members of a Venezuelan gang—were sent to the Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT), an infamous mega-prison built to cruelly imprison up to 40,000 inmates. They arrived after Trump’s deportation was seemingly halted by a court decision.

To expedite the removal process, Trump cited wartime powers from the 18th century. The centuries-old law, which has only been applied three times in US history—during the War of 1812, World War I, and World War II—permits the deportation of both native-born people and citizens of an enemy nation without a hearing.

US District Judge James E. Boasberg issued an order on Saturday that temporarily barred the government from using the 1798 Alien Enemies Act while the legality of the act was being decided by courts. Lawyers informed him, however, that two planes carrying immigrants were already in the air, one bound for Honduras and the other for El Salvador.

Both planes were ordered to turn around immediately by Judge Boasbery, who also stated that the interim restraining order will be in place for 14 days, “or until further order of the court.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt supported Trump’s decision to proceed with the mass deportation in response to claims that the administration had blatantly ignored a court injunction.

“The administration did not ‘refuse to comply’ with a court order,” the White House press secretary said in a statement. “The order, which had no lawful basis, was issued after terrorist TdA aliens had already been removed from U.S. territory.”
