He still doesn’t get it. TFG still hasn’t realized that justice is supposed to blind and impartial. Justice is supposed to carefully weigh evidence before passing judgment. Justice isn’t meant to invoke prejudice. I don’t know if TFG has ever seen a statue or an image of Themis, the ancient Greek goddess of Justice. I don’t know if he would have cared to notice or understand why she was blindfolded and carried scales and a sword.
He is still laboring under the delusion that judges owe their livelihoods to whoever got them appointed to the bench. He is still trying desperately to fit that idea of quid pro quo into the American justice system.
Does he really believe that no one notices his propensity to point out that judges Engoron and Chutkan were both appointed by forces he believes to be hostile to himself? As if anyone could see 10, 15, 25 years in advance and know that this “stable genius” would one day appear before those judges? Simultaneously?!
Meanwhile, Judge Cannon’s appointment to the bench never comes up for discussion, because clearly she is perceived to be friendly to him. But of course even TFG must understand the bad optics that would result from pointing out that the one judge going easy on him is one that he himself appointed to the bench.
He is always talking about an unfair two-tiered justice system, but in typically narcissistic fashion, he fails to realize that he is the only defendant in the history of American criminal justice to be allowed the level of freedom he has been granted. He fails to understand that literally anyone else in the US would have spent their time awaiting trial in jail. No one else would have been allowed to conduct random press conferences attacking the judges, doxxing witnesses, prosecutors and their families, or freely traveling all over the country.
And who in their right mind goes ballistic like that in THE MIDDLE OF THE TRIAL, thinking that it’s a good idea to irritate the judges who will be deciding your fate?
Two tiers, indeed.
