Sisseton Woman Acquitted of Theft from Indian Tribal Organization

{KXLG – Sisseton, SD} Diahna Kirk, also known as Diahna Rose Kirk, a 36-year-old resident of Sisseton, South Dakota, was acquitted of theft charges following a federal jury trial held from November 12-14, 2024, in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

A federal grand jury indicted Kirk in May 2024 on charges of embezzling money from the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate Fuel Inc., an Indian tribal organization. The U.S. Attorney’s Office and the FBI investigated the alleged embezzlement.

United States Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell announced the acquittal, highlighting the thorough investigation and legal proceedings that led to the jury’s decision.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office prosecuted the case, ensuring that all aspects of the investigation and trial were handled with the utmost diligence.
