The Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney‘s Office has convicted a Rossville woman in what they deem an ‘Important Fentanyl Case.’
According to a release from the office, officers found 3.642 grams of Fentanyl powder in Samantha Leamon’s bathroom during a search of her home, where she was on probation.
Fentanyl is a potent synthetic opioid the office says is responsible for a significant number of overdose deaths in Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, and Walker Counties.
Leamon was serving time at home for possessing Clonazolam.
The court held a trial from Tuesday, Jan. 14 to Wednesday, Jan. 15, where a jury convicted her for Possession of Fentanyl with intent to distribute.
Chief Judge Brian House sentenced Leamon to serve ten years in the Georgia Department of Corrections, followed by twenty years on probation.
District Attorney Clayton Fuller said he appreciates the work of the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Community Supervision, and GBI for their dedicated service.
“[W]e always appreciate their hard work on fentanyl cases. We have lost far too many lives to fentanyl,” Fuller stated. “So let this conviction be a warning: if you intend to deal this deadly poison, we will find you, and we will bring you to justice.”
