A group of supporters of Palestine held a demonstration at the International Criminal Court in The Hague on Monday afternoon, calling on the body to take action against Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and calling him a war criminal.
“The demonstration did not cause any disturbance to the ICC’s normal activities,” spokeswoman Sonja Robla said. “The situation was addressed by ICC security and the police of the host country.”
According to AP, 19 people who occupied the entrance to the building were arrested for a short time.
Otis, a spokesman for the Extinction Rebellion spin-off Justice Now, said that the organisation “stands with oppressed people everywhere.”
“It is the same system of oppression creating the climate crisis that is causing this crisis,” he said. XR did stress they do not condone Hamas’ bloody attack on the south of Israel on October 7, calling it an act of terrorism.
The XR spin-off has been involved in several other pro-Palestine actions since the Hamas attacks.
