BJS is pleased to announce Dr. Rachel E. Morgan as the new chief of its Victimization Statistics Unit. Rachel has worked as a statistician in BJS’s Victimization Statistics Unit for the past 10 years. Her portfolio of work includes management and data collection activities for the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) and NCVS supplemental surveys, including the Supplemental Fraud Survey, Supplemental Victimization Survey, and School Crime Supplement. More recently, Rachel has also served as the program manager for the Victim Services Statistical Research Program, which includes the first national data collections on victim service provider provision in the United States. Rachel provides expertise to BJS, the Department of Justice, and the U.S. federal statistical system on topics related to criminal victimization, service provision for victims of crime and abuse, and the measurement of demographic characteristics in federal household surveys. She received her PhD in sociology and MA in applied sociology from the University of Central Florida and her BS in sociology from Florida State University.
