A second inmate has been captured after ten men escaped the Orleans Parish Justice Center in New Orleans yesterday. Eight prisoners remain at large
A second escapee has been nabbed after a daring jailbreak where ten men bust out of the Orleans Parish Justice Center in New Orleans just yesterday.
During the usual inmate tally at around 8:30am Friday, officials clocked that several prisoners had escaped from the Orleans Parish Justice Center. This prompted Sheriff Susan Hutson to express her dismay and urgency at a presser, describing it as a “very serious and unacceptable situation.”
Louisiana’s media channels broadcast an image capturing the sizable breach through which the detainees apparently made their nighttime getaway. The pic showcases a gaping hole in a wall, with a series of cheeky jibes scrawled for the correctional staff to find, such as: “To Easy LOL,
“Catch us when you can,
“We innocent,
“Most Hated,” paired with additional vulgar remarks.

The story initially hit the airwaves with claims that 11 inmates had flown the coop, but this was dialed back after a headcount error was spotted—turns out one of these felons had already been transferred to new digs prior to the break.
With only two captives reeled back so far, those still enjoying unsanctioned freedom include accused killers and various individuals charged with attempted murder.
Kendell Myles, on the lam facing an attempted second-degree murder rap, found his brief taste of liberty cut short when he was discovered Friday afternoon secreted under a vehicle in a French Quarter hotel parking structure, reports the Mirror.
Now, the tally of retrieved inmates ticks up by one more.

During a press briefing today, New Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson revealed that malfunctioning locks were the reason for the jailbreak, asserting it should be “almost impossible for anyone to get out of this facility without help from the outside.”
Speaking with journalists, she explained: “Folks are normally locked down in this facility at 10.30pm, but these folks who were able to get out did so because of defective locks on the cells. I’ve talked about those locks since I’ve got into office” emphasizing her concern about “deficiencies in these facilities that cause public safety concerns.”
