Marjorie Taylor Greene Hopes U.S. Opens ‘As Many Prisons As Possible’ So Illegal Immigrants Can Be ‘Rounded Up’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) voiced her support for opening “as many prisons as possible” to “round up” illegal immigrants as President Donald Trump gears up for a mass immigration crackdown.

Trump made immigration issues a core part of all three of his presidential campaigns and announced a list of executive orders on Inauguration Day that included declaring a state of emergency at the U.S. – Mexico border, designating drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, and suspending asylum and refugee resettlement.

Greene, a longtime staunch supporter of Trump, spoke on the House floor Wednesday in support of his immigration policies.

“Well, I certainly hope we do open as many prisons as possible to round up as many illegal aliens that have invaded our country and those that are breaking our laws, killing our citizens — women and children — and causing complete havoc across our great land,” said Greene.

The Georgia congresswoman said she supported the Laken Riley Act because Laken Riley “should be alive today.” She continued:

And she would be alive today if it hadn’t had been for the Democrats in the Biden administration that ripped our border open and allowed this illegal alien monster to come into our country. And then in the state of New York, when this monster was arrested for committing crimes, the Democrat state of New York let him go, and that’s how he came down to Georgia and murdered our Laken Riley.

Greene added she was “so thankful that the American people overwhelmingly voted for Donald Trump so that we can sign this bill into law, and it can’t happen fast enough.”

She attacked House Democrats as “pathetic” and said they “complain and whine and defend illegal aliens that break the law the minute they cross our border” to support “America Last policies.”

Laken Riley “should be living her American dream,” continued Greene, “and she had the right to do it.”

“But people that come across our border illegally are not Americans, and they do not have rights here. And that is exactly why any time they break a law, any time they cross into our country, they should be rounded up and shipped out as fast as possible, and if we need to build more prisons, then we’ll do it because the American people will support it.”

Greene is not correct that illegal immigrants “do not have rights here.” Many constitutional protections of the U.S. justice system also apply to immigrants, both legal and illegal, including the right to remain silent when detained by police and the right to an attorney.
