Music made by Jersey prisoners is to be played during a listening party at an art exhibition.
The Moving Arts Collective – a group of artists, writers and performers – is hosting the event at Capital House in St Helier on Thursday for a new album produced with inmates from La Moye prison.
The album – called H.M.P His Music Productions – includes a mix of rap, disco, drill, rock, acoustic and drum and bass music.
The listening party will take place from 18:00 to 19:30 BST as part of Art House Jersey’s Inside Out exhibition.
It will follow a previous event hosted privately at the jail in May as part of the album’s launch.
Prisoners worked alongside professional musicians Thabo Mkwananzi and Fred Harper, from Finding Rhythms, and Esther Rose Parkes, from the Moving Arts Collective, to produce the album.
Prison governor Susie Richardson said the album provided a fantastic opportunity for inmates.
“The confidence building, permission to show emotion and level of relationship built between participants and with the facilitators has been palpable,” she said.
It is available to listen to on Spotify and Bandcamp.
