Shares of US-listed companies CoreCivic and GEO Group, known as ‘Jail stocks’ for investing in private prisons, have jumped over 80% since Donald Trump won US Presidential elections on November 5. GEO Group shares rose 87% since November 4 closing, while CoreCivic shares rallied 82%. This comes amid expectations of mass detention and deportation of immigrants as promised by Trump.
