
Chanchalguda Jail’s Special Prison for Women marked the International Women’s Day with a celebration aimed at highlighting the empowerment and rehabilitation of women inmates.
It featured cultural performances by inmates, showcasing their talents in dance, music and art. Winners of painting, games and other cultural competitions were awarded special gifts.
The event was graced by Justice Radha Rani as the Chief Guest, alongside Soumya Mishra, Director General of Prisons, D. Srinivas, Deputy Inspector General of Prisons, Hyderabad Range, and Venkata Laxmi Srinadh, Superintendent of Jails.
Addressing the gathering, Justice Radha Rani stressed the importance of education, skill development and emotional support in enabling incarcerated women to reintegrate into society with dignity.
Ms. Soumya Mishra acknowledged the prison administration’s commitment to fostering a safe and progressive environment for women inmates. She reaffirmed the Prisons department’s dedication to supporting skill-building initiatives and welfare programmes.
D. Srinivas, DIG Prisons, highlighted ongoing reform efforts to improve the prison system and ensure the well-being of women inmates. He lauded the dedication of prison staff in implementing various rehabilitation measures. Superintendent Venkata Laxmi Srinadh expressed gratitude to the dignitaries and emphasised the need for continued efforts in providing vocational training and educational opportunities for women inmates.
