Inside P. Diddy’s jail with ‘abhorrent’ conditions and ‘mold’ issues

Rapper and business mogul P. Diddy has been remanded as he awaits updates following his arrest for racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. Eleven have come forward to claim that they have been victims of a number of alleged crimes.

Diddy – real name Sean Combs – was denied bail, and he is now reprimanded in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where former inmates including mafia bosses and terrorists.

Mirror US Showbiz Reporter Alex West headed to the spot to observe the conditions where the rapper – infamous for his lavish white parties – is now held.

P. Diddy has categorically denied all allegations of sexual misconduct via his legal team.

In a letter, Diddy’s lawyer raised concerns about the condition of the prison. They wrote: “Several courts in this District have recognized that the conditions at Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn are not fit for pre-trial detention. Just earlier this summer, an inmate was murdered.”

“At least four inmates have died by suicide there in the past three years. Numerous Courts in this district have raised concerns with the horrific conditions of detention there.”

West noted how she walked past “dilapidated buildings and underfunded infrastructure” to find the jail. She found the outside of the building overgrown with weeds, with “plenty of garbage rolling in the breeze”.

Windows are the facility were blacked out or even bricked up, and an apparently “abandoned guard post with no security officer in sight” appeared to be rotting.

West wrote: “Advertisements were plastered across the building, seeming to beg for employees to join the jail’s team.”

She went on: “As if it was a final touch, greeting Diddy as he resides within the walls, one word was repeated, echoing across the area. ‘Love’ was sprayed in graffiti on the nearby bridge and jail-facing walls of other buildings. Diddy, before his arrest, changed his middle name to Love and named his child after the word.”

The prison appears desperate for staff, and Sam Mangel, a federal prison consultant, previously told The Mirror: “It’s tremendously understaffed. The physical plan is in abhorrent shape.

“So in addition to having issues with maintenance and the HVAC system and the water, and the toilets…and the mold issues because they’re so understaffed they simply don’t have the personnel or budget to fix it.”

Mangel told the Mirror: “He’s in hell … So there’s no peace and quiet just because you’re by yourself.”

Reps from Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center have yet to respond to queries from The Mirror.
