BEAUMONT, Texas — Federal and local law enforcement officers in Southeast Texas are on the lookout for a federal prisoner who walked away from a minimum security facility this week.
Raul Garibay, 32, was discovered missing from the satellite camp at the Federal Correctional Institution Beaumont Low at about 5:45 p.m. Thursday evening, according to a news release from the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
He is white, with black hair, brown eyes, is 6’0” tall and weighs about 240 pounds, according to the news release.
Once he was discovered missing, the U.S. Marshals Service, FBI and local law enforcement agencies were notified. An internal investigation was also initiated, according to the release.

Garibay, originally of Grand Prairie, was serving a 20 year sentence for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance. He was originally sentenced in the Northern District of Texas
He pleaded guilty to the charges in 2017, admitting that from January through May 2016 he and several others in Grand Prairie were cooking and preparing methamphetamine for distribution, according to a previous news release from the U.S. Department of Justice.
When the trailer home they were using was searched officers found four kilos of meth in liquid, powder and crystal form in various stages of processing.
The satellite camp is a minimum security facility adjacent to the low security prison and houses 470 male inmates. The adjacent low security facility houses 2,126 male inmates.
