Ill-treated In Puzhal Prison, Alleges Bjp Man | Chennai News

Chennai: BJP state sports cell president Amar Prasad Reddy, who was out on bail on Saturday, raised “concerns” about the state of Puzhal prison in Tamil Nadu.
Reddy was arrested and lodged in prison for 22 days for “damaging the earth mover brought by the police to demolish the BJP flag pole” set up near party state president K Annamalai’s house in Panaiyur in Chennai.
After his release, Reddy, who visited the BJP headquarters Kamalalayam in the city, told reporters, “For prisoners going to prison for the first time, they will be put up in the new block. But I was put up in a block with murderers and criminals.” Describing the ordeal he faced in the prison, Amar quipped that he “gave life to thousands of mosquitoes”.
He alleged minister Senthil Balaji was provided facilities like air cooler while he was purposely made to suffer. “You (media) can obtain permission and can come with your cameras to shoot the facilities provided for Senthil Balaji in the prison. CCTV cameras should be set up in the prisons too,” Amar said.
“Twenty-two days in prison taught me what politics can teach me in 22 years. After my release my politics would be intense. Till my death I will be in the BJP. The manner in which I was treated inside the prison shows that the 2026 battle will be between the DMK and the BJP,” Amar said.
He thanked Annamalai for calling his family regularly.

Venezuelan prison crackdown: criminal purge or political ‘show’?
Venezuela has deployed security forces to regain control of seven prisons from powerful gangs, uncovering guns, drugs, swimming pools, restaurants, and even a zoo. The facilities, which resembled luxury retreats for gang bosses, were closed and the prisoners relocated to already overcrowded prisons. Observers argue that the raids were a distraction from human rights concerns and international scrutiny. The Venezuelan Prison Observatory claims that top gang leaders were tipped off by authorities and left the country before the raids. The operation is seen as an attempt to divert attention as the country prepares for presidential elections.

Russia deploys Ukrainian war prisoners to ‘fight on front lines’: Report
Russia is allegedly deploying former Ukrainian servicemen, including prisoners of war, as “volunteers” on the front lines, potentially violating international law. The men, who are part of a volunteer battalion named after Bogdan Khmelnitsky, were seen in a video taking an oath to Russia. It is estimated that Russia has recruited around 100,000 individuals from its prison population to participate in the conflict in Ukraine. This coerced recruitment of prisoners would be a breach of the 1949 Geneva Conventions. Reports have also shown that released prisoners have committed serious crimes after leaving military service.
