Houston drug dealer sentenced to prison for selling fentanyl, meth in Third Ward

A Houston drug dealer will spend nine years in federal prison after admitting dealing fentanyl and methamphetamine in Houston’s Third Ward.

Demitrios Ramon Jerry, 46, pleaded guilty June 20 and was sentenced for trafficking narcotics, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Texas Alamdar S. Hamdani announced Wednesday.

U.S. District Judge Lee H. Rosenthal sentenced Jerry to 108 months in federal prison, which will be immediately followed by five years of supervised release.

During the sentencing hearing, the judge considered that Jerry admitted dealing fentanyl and meth out of a drug house in Houston’s Third Ward neighborhood and noted the seriousness of the quantity of fentanyl.

According to a news release, a joint law enforcement operation found that Jerry was selling counterfeit Percocet pills containing fentanyl, as well as ecstasy pills containing meth.

Authorities searched the drug house and found crack cocaine, powder cocaine, promethazine syrup and scales.

Jerry was allowed to remain on bond but must voluntarily surrender later at a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility.

The Drug Enforcement Administration investigated the case with help from the Houston Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stuart Tallichet prosecuted the case.
