KALAMAZOO, MI — The city of Kalamazoo has seen more homicides this year than any other year in the past two decades, according to police statistics, but that’s despite positive trends in overall violent crimes in the city.
Despite the grim milestone of 21 Kalamazoo homicides so far in 2023, the number of violent crimes are down in the past year, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Chief David Boysen told MLive/Kalamazoo Gazette Tuesday, Nov. 28.
