Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein announced today, Saturday, the beginning of receiving Iraqi terrorists from Syria and transferring them to the country’s prisons.
A statement by the Foreign Ministry – received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) – stated that “Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein met with the National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Jonathan Powell.”
The statement added that “the meeting witnessed discussion of the complexities of the political scene in Syria,” as the Foreign Minister expressed “Iraq’s concern about the activities of ISIS terrorist gangs within the Syrian borders.”
The statement continued, “The two sides discussed the regional and international role in achieving peace and stability in Syria and the region,” as the Foreign Minister reviewed “the results of his meeting with the Foreign Minister of the Syrian administration on the sidelines of the Paris Conference to Support Syria, which was held recently.”
Hussein confirmed according to the statement that “Iraq has begun receiving a group of terrorists, who are Iraqi citizens, and transferring them to Iraqi prisons,” stressing at the same time, “the necessity for the political process in Syria to include all components and spectrums of the Syrian people without marginalizing any party.” The Foreign Minister expressed according to the statement “Iraq’s readiness to provide support and assistance to ensure the participation of all parties in achieving stability and avoiding monopoly in decision-making.”
