Davenport man sentenced to 10 years in federal prison on sex charges

A Davenport man arrested with eight other men during a federal sex crime sting has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

During a sentencing hearing held Wednesday in U.S. District Court, Peoria, Auston M. McLain, 38, was sentenced to 10 years in prison on each count of attempted enticement of a minor and travel with the intent to engage in illicit sexual activities.

Chief U.S. District Court Judge Sara Darrow ordered the sentences to run concurrently. McLain will receive credit for the time he has served in custody awaiting trial and sentencing.

There is no parole in the federal system.

Darrow also ordered that McLain spend 10 years on federal supervised release once his prison sentence is completed.

A federal jury found McLain guilty of the charges on June, 2023, after a two-day trial.
