Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud has called the US criminal justice system “corrupt”, in light of his father’s 38-year prison sentence. Stroud threw for five touchdowns in his team’s 39-37 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and slammed the justice system after the game. “Our criminal justice system isn’t right. It’s something that I need to probably be a little more vocal about, because what he’s going through is not right. the whole criminal justice system is corrupt,” said CJ Stroud. The 2023 second overall pick went on to highlight the conditions in prisons and said there are “rats and roaches and things like that” in some. Stroud’s father is serving his time in a California prison after pleading guilty in 2015 to charges relating to carjacking, kidnapping and robbery. The 22-year-old has impressed so far in his rookie season, going a record 192 passes without being intercepted. The Houston Texans face the Cincinnati Bengals next, which is familiar ground to Stroud as he spent his college career at Ohio State.
