Honoring our Own

The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge is showing “Honoring Our Own: The Artwork of Dr. Charles Smith,” through Dec. 31, in the Shell Gallery at the Cary Saurage Community Arts Center, 233 St. Ferdinand St. The show will feature Smith’s figural sculptures depicting the African American experience. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Admission is free. For more information, visit artsbr.org.

Your Move

Art Guild show 

The Art Guild of Louisiana’s 2023 Autumn Judged Show runs through Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Independence Park Gallery, 7800 Independence Blvd. The show was judged by Studio de Chene gallery owner Cynthia Nicholas who awarded first place to “Tennessee Stream” by Kathy Daigle; second to “Joy” by Linda Pace; third to “Zinnia Patch” by Marilyn Gensler and honorable mention to “Just the Two of Us” by Julie Cacioppo and “Windy Day on the Beach” by Oksana Fogg. Veterans on Parade

All are invited to view the 17th annual “Veterans on Parade” at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, from the grounds of the West Baton Rouge Museum, 845 N. Jefferson Ave., in Port Allen. A seating area under the shade of a tent will be provided for any veteran wishing to watch the festivities roll by. Be sure to stay for a patriotic ceremony and reception honoring all veterans from all military branches and the grand marshal of the 2023 “Veterans on Parade” will be held on the museum’s front lawn. Medium & Kassandra

‘Rent’ tickets

Puccini evening
