Bringing Art To Prison: Event raises over $60K for program

NEWINGTON — The Community Partners in Action (CPA) hosted Celebrate! Prison Arts 2024, “A Summer Soiree of Artistry and Storytelling,” at the Pond House Cafe at Elizabeth Park. The event raised over $60,000 for the Prison Arts Program. The program helps to bring the arts to Connecticut’s prisons.

The event featured music from Steve Moran and the Matt Dicks’ Speak-Up Storytellers. There was an exhibition that displayed pieces from Vincent Nardone, Tracie Bernardi Guzman, Santos Cancel, Dennis Coleman, Mark Despres, Jeff McEwen, Yongmi Olsen, James Pace, James Pinder, Marcial Salgado, David Saucier and James Taylor.
