ART: New exhibit features art of man serving life in prison

PINE BLUFF — A new exhibit at the Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas features the work of an artist and activist serving a life sentence at the Varner Unit of the Arkansas Department of Corrections.

“Parking Lot Space: Artworks by Kenneth Reams” opens Saturday and will be made up of about 30 pieces ranging from drawings and paintings to poems, sculpture and more. Also on Saturday, beginning at 3 p.m., will be a free panel discussion, with speakers from Arkansas, Colorado and New York addressing topics related to the arts, activism and community outreach.

One Tuesday morning last month, Kevin Haynie, curator of collections and exhibitions at the center, was working on the installation of the exhibit in the William H.
