Prince Lateef Fagbemi, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, has urged stakeholders, Attorneys-General of States, Civil Society Organisations, and international development partners to commit to an efficient criminal justice system.

Prince Fagbemi made the plea in Abuja during a three-day National Stakeholders’ forum organised by the Federal Ministry of Justice in collaboration with the Centre for Social-Legal Studies.

He said one of the cardinal points of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration was to ensure that the country’s criminal justice system was more responsive to the demands of citizens for an efficient, effective, and trustworthy dispensation of justice.

Prince Fagbemi noted that the passage of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJA) by all the 36 States of the Federation had provided a common ground to address the critical issues and challenges confronting Nigeria’s criminal justice system.

Professor Yemi Akinseye-George, President, Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, observed that collaborations around ACJA’s review would create a robust system of inclusive justice system.
