Tony Maldonado, who authorities say is known as ‘Diablo’ was sentenced to 200 months in prison for meth trafficking and other charges.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 58-year-old Corpus Christi man accused of distributing narcotics from his elderly parent’s home in 2023 has been sentenced to a total of 200 months in prison, according to the United States Attorney’s Office this week.
Authorities said Tony Maldonado, also known as “Diablo,” is a Texas Syndicate gang member who pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute meth back in February 2024.
In August 2023, federal authorities obtained a search warrant of the home. They discovered jail letters that reportedly confirmed his active status in the prison gang. Authorities also seized 83.86 grams of heroin and 39.34 grams of meth.
Maldonado was convicted for meth trafficking and two counts of violating the terms of his supervised release.
U.S. District Judge David S. Morales has ordered Maldonado to serve 188 months in federal prison to be immediately followed by five years of supervised release for this offense.
At his hearing, the court heard that Maldonado had been on supervised release for two other federal drug cases, one from 2000 involving meth and one from 2013 for possession with intent to distribute heroin.
He will remain in custody pending transfer to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility to be determined in the near future.
