BAY CITY, Mich. (WJRT) – Police announced an arrest and the discovery of additional human remains during the Justie Stilwell homicide investigation in Bay City.
The Bay City Department of Public Safety served a search warrant in the 100 block of Elm Street around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, where they arrested a 40-year-old male suspect.
Authorities also discovered more human remains at another location as part of the investigation. Police believe the remains were part of Stilwell’s body.
The suspect was not identified Wednesday afternoon because he had not appeared in court for arraignment. Investigators say they are not seeking any other suspects in connection with the murder.
The mystery surrounding 41-year-old Stilwell’s death started Sept. 18 with the discovery of his arms and lower legs along the Saginaw River near the Edward Golson Boat Launch, which is adjacent to the Independence Bridge.
Bay City investigators say Stilwell’s death was classified as a homicide, but it was unclear how he died or how long his body parts had been lying by the river.
