Prison Reimagined: Presidential Portrait Project – President Lincoln’s Cottage | A Home for Brave Ideas

January 5- February 19, 2024

This January, President Lincoln’s Cottage is partnering with Justice Arts Coalition on an exhibit, Prison Reimagined: Presidential Portrait Project featuring artwork by incarcerated artists critiquing the US Justice System.  This project is the creation of journalist Caddell Kivett, one of the editors of Nash News, who is currently incarcerated at the Nash Correctional Institution in North Carolina.

The exhibit features presidential portraits paired with that president’s record on incarceration.  There will also be personal essays, and creative visions of what true justice could look like on display.

Our guided tours conclude with a discussion of the art (see below), and between 3:00 pm and 4:30 pm each day, visitors can enjoy self-exploration of the exhibit.
