October 7 has given settlers even more of a free hand to launch their attacks against Palestinians.
And this has been empowered by years of settlers escaping any convictions under the Israeli system when it comes to their violence against Palestinians.
Just two days ago, we’ve seen the footage of Israeli settlers attacking a Palestinian [vehicle], which was used as a small restaurant, and we’ve seen Israeli police passing by and doing nothing, so that gives you an idea about how these Israeli forces, and the Israeli regime and its government, deal with those settlers.
We’ve been reporting on this even before the war, when Palestinians were telling you that settler violence is part and parcel of the Israeli policy of trying to push Palestinians out of their lands.
When we talk to Bedouin communities who have been forced to leave, they will tell you that if we go and complain to the police, it’s such a lengthy process that ends in nothing.
So people feel helpless, vulnerable, and they believe that the US should exert more pressure on Israel to curb its settler attacks that have only been increasing.
