INQToday: SC upholds Sandiganbayan’s dismissal of Marcos ill-gotten wealth case

The Supreme Court upholds the decision of the Sandiganbayan dismissing the case filed to recover the alleged ill-gotten wealth of former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., his family and his cronies, through their estate.

Sandiganbayan previously issued the decision in June 2012, in response to the petition submitted by Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG).

Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa assures the public that “mechanisms are in place” to ensure the confidentiality of public data following the reported hacking of the World Health Organization’s database.

The hacked WHO database, Herbosa said, contains, among others, Covid-19 vaccination information from the Philippines.

“The independence of the judiciary is present and true. Our court is a court of law and justice, oblivious of personalities or any political noise,” Marcos said in a statement on Tuesday.

Former Senate President Franklin Drilon says those who forced witnesses into providing distorted testimonies against ex-Senator Leila de Lima should be held accountable.

Drilon’s statement was issued after a Muntinlupa court granted De Lima’s appeal to post bail in her remaining drug case.

Police are now zeroing in on the new testimonies from the family of missing beauty queen Catherine Camilon, who allegedly had an affair with Police Major Allan De Castro.

Screenshots of online conversations between the two showed Camilon was physically abused.
