REPORTS
FIREARM DISCHARGE, 2023-07240055, 4100 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive. At approximately 7:01 a.m. on July 24, police were dispatched to the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, it was determined that an armed security officer was in a backroom preparing for the day when he allegedly accidentally discharged his weapon, striking his hand. He was transported to an area hospital with injuries considered non-life threatening. No other injuries or property damage were reported. Nana Agyire, 29, of Chevy Chase, MD was charged with Discharge Firearm in Public Place and released on a summons.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 2023-07210316, 1200 block of N. Kennebec Street. At approximately 11:17 p.m. on July 21, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined the victim was inside her residence when the male suspect, who is known to her, allegedly began yelling and banging on an exterior window causing it to shatter before attempting to gain entry to the home. No injuries were reported. During the course of the investigation, the suspect returned to the scene and was taken into custody without incident. The suspect sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene by medics. Jose Hernandez Castro, 20, of Arlington, Va. was arrested and charged with Attempted Burglary and Destruction of Property.
MALICIOUS WOUNDING BY CAUSTIC AGENT, 2023-07210178, 700 block of N. Abingdon Street. At approximately 2:44 p.m. on July 21, police were dispatched to a mental health call for service. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect stole a piece of property from the victim’s yard and began to destroy it while leaving the scene. When the victim confronted the suspect, the suspect sprayed the victim with pepper spray and made threatening statements towards him before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained minor injuries and declined medical attention on scene. Responding officers identified the suspect and a warrant for Malicious Wounding by a Caustic Substance was obtained.
CARJACKING, 2023-07230042, 23rd Street S at S. Eads Street. At approximately 2:32 a.m. on July 23, police were dispatched to the report of a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, it was determined the victim was inside his parked vehicle when the suspect vehicle approached, three suspects exited, brandished firearms and demanded the victim’s vehicle. The suspect vehicle, a dark-colored sedan, then fled the scene followed by the suspects driving the victim’s stolen vehicle. No injuries were reported. The suspects are described as three Black males in their 20’s wearing ski masks. The victim’s vehicle is described as a white 2017 BMW 420i with Mississippi license plate JEA8255. The investigation is ongoing.
ROBBERY, 2023-07220213, S. Frederick Street at Columbia Pike. At approximately 9:07 p.m. on July 22, police were dispatched to the report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined the victim was walking in the area when he was approached by a known acquaintance and the unknown suspect. The suspect then assaulted the victim, implied he had a weapon and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from his pocket before fleeing the scene. No injuries were reported. The suspect is described as a heavy-set Black male, approximately 5’10” with shoulder-length dreads wearing a dark colored shirt and cargo shorts. The investigation is ongoing.
MISSILE INTO AN OCCUPIED VEHICLE, 2023-07220004, 2400 block of N. Utah Street. At approximately 11:41 p.m. on July 21, police were dispatched to the report of disorderly conduct. Upon arrival, it was determined the victims were walking to their vehicle when they passed a group of known suspects. A short time later, the victims were in their parked vehicle when the suspects approached in another vehicle and discharged a lit firework into the victims’ vehicle before driving away. The victims sustained minor injuries and declined medical attention on scene. The victims declined prosecution at the time of the report and were provided information about the process of obtaining warrants from the Office of the Magistrate.
MISSILE INTO AN OCCUPIED DWELLING, 2023-07220028, 2100 block of N. Pollard Street. At approximately 1:28 a.m. on July 22, police were dispatched to the report of destruction of property. Upon arrival, it was determined at approximately 12:00 a.m., the juvenile victim and the known juvenile suspect had a verbal dispute inside the victim’s home. The suspect then left the residence and allegedly threw an unidentified object into the garage’s window, causing it to shatter and resulting in property damage to a vehicle. No injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY, 2023-07210017, 800 block of S. Dinwiddie Street. At approximately 1:00 a.m. on July 21, police were dispatched to the report of a burglary just occurred. Upon arrival, it was determined the known suspect gained entry to the victim’s residence. At the time of the report, it was unclear if any items were stolen from the home. A warrant for Burglary was obtained for the suspect.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 2023-07220226, 2300 block of 11th Street N. At approximately 8:48 p.m. on July 22, police were dispatched to the report of suspicious circumstances. Upon arrival, it was determined the victim was inside of his residence when the unknown suspect(s) attempted to force entry into the home. No entry was made into the residence. There is no suspect description(s). The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY (late), 2023-07220085, 5200 block of Langston Boulevard. At approximately 7:25 a.m. on July 22, police were dispatched to the late report of a breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined during the overnight hours into July 22, the unknown suspect(s) forced entry into the business and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from a cash register. There is no suspect description(s). The investigation is ongoing.
