Springfield man, imprisoned for 39 years, hopes DNA evidence will clear him in 1984 murder

SPRINGFIELD — Edward G. Wright has always said he did not kill his friend, Penny Anderson, back in 1984.

Today, Wright, 61, has once again asked for a new trial, this time with the help of The New England Innocence Project — and fresh evidence — after spending 39 years in prison for Anderson’s murder.
