We are delighted to announce that Ruby Peacock, Jessie Smith, Finnian Clarke and Rachel Woodward have successfully completed their pupillages and join Doughty Street as tenants.
About Ruby
Prior to joining the Bar, Ruby was a discrimination advisor and caseworker at Suffolk Law Centre, where she acted for claimants in the Employment Tribunal. She has worked in a range of third sector organisations on strategic human rights litigation and project work, and brings this skill set to her practice at the Bar.
Ruby is developing a broad practice in civil and public law relating to the criminal justice system and accountability of the police and other public authorities. Ruby accepts instructions in inquests, public inquiries, actions against the police and public authorities, and matters relating to protest, prison, and immigration detention.

About Jessie
Jessie was admitted as a barrister and solicitor before the Supreme Court of Victoria (Australia) in 2012 and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2022. She is developing a trial practice in domestic criminal law, international criminal law, extradition, inquests and crime-related public law. Jessie has a particular interest in criminal appeals, including to the Privy Council. Jessie was previously a defence solicitor in Australia with a national security specialisation. She maintained joint conduct of Australia’s largest terrorism law practice for 7 years before undertaking a PhD at Cambridge.

About Finnian
Finnian was called to the bar in 2021. He specialises in employment, immigration and related areas of public law. Prior to commencing pupillage, he worked as a trade union caseworker, representing workers in multi-day Employment Tribunal claims. He also worked with refugees in Chios, Greece with Advocates Abroad. During pupillage, he has worked on a wide array of employment and immigration matters, appearing unled in both the High Court and Upper Tribunal and conducting multi-day group actions. Building on his work as a judicial assistant to Lord Justice Singh, he is also developing a practice in immigration-related public law, having worked on the Manston House and Bibby Stockholm cases and drafting grounds in trafficking litigation. Lastly, he is interested in building a practice in climate work, having worked with Ben Cooper KC and Margherita Cornaglia in this area during pupillage.

About Rachel
Rachel was called to the Bar in 2021. She joins Chambers after having successfully completed a specialised Health and Human Rights pupillage. Prior to pupillage, Rachel developed extensive experience in clinical negligence and personal injury litigation as a paralegal to a senior junior barrister at a leading personal injury Chambers in London. She also brings experience in public law, having worked as a Public Law Caseworker in the immigration and asylum sector. During pupillage, Rachel has used this experience to develop a broad practice across personal injury, clinical negligence, the Court of Protection, inquests and inquiries, actions against the police, and public law.
