Quinn Emanuel Moves to Launch in Singapore, Says ‘Lots of Cases Veering That Way’

An economic downturn is fuelling the international ambitions of trial firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan. In less than 12 months, the firm has launched new offices in Beijing and the UAE, and it is now also looking to formally break into the Southeast Asian market with a new Singapore outfit.

Quinn Emanuel said it will soon apply for a Foreign Law Practice (FLP) license to launch an office in Singapore, adding to its reach in the Asia Pacific. Once its FLP application has been approved, the firm will be relocating its Hong Kong international arbitration partner Duncan Watson to the city-state to lead its new office, and its decade-long Hong Kong managing partner and head of its Asia international arbitration practice, John Rhie, will support the new venture on a fly-in-fly-out basis.
