CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A Mexican national with a lengthy criminal history was sentenced to prison after previously pleading guilty for re-entering the country for the second time.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said it previously removed 27-year-old Hector Castillo-Molina from the U.S. in August 2022. U.S. District Judge David S. Morales sentenced Castillo-Molina to four years in prison.
On April 27, 2024, Castillo-Molina was smuggled as one of 59 individuals in a tractor-trailer at the Falfurrias Border Patrol checkpoint.
DA’s office said Castillo-Molina will be removed from the U.S. after serving his prison sentence. The attorney said Castillo-Molina has a lengthy criminal history of five felonies, which include burglary, drug possession, felon in possession of a firearm, and illegal reentry into the United States.
Castillo-Molina will remain in custody pending transfer to a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility.
